Facedown Rules Of Thumb

  • If they hid with relevant domains, assume it can affect combat or positioning.

  • Track whether the Hidden card was set before or after key information was revealed.
  • Make them spend it on a medium threat before presenting your real line.

Calm

Counters, protection, combat denial, recall/save effects. Often asks you to overcommit into a clean answer.

Play around: test with cheaper spell, avoid single huge target.

Fury

Damage tricks, Ambush pressure, aggressive combat swings. Punishes loose attacks and fragile units.

Play around: count surprise Might, avoid giving free combat value.

Stat reduction, spell interaction, token tricks, temporary units, value loops.

Play around: preserve backup bodies and respect minus-Might removal.

Body

Protection, prevention, efficient Ambush bodies, counter-punch combat.

Play around: do not rely on one damage event resolving cleanly.

Order

Stun, saves, board discipline, defensive combat control.

Play around: split threats and watch for recall/save effects.

Chaos

Bounce, Hidden tricks, spell counters, weird tempo, movement traps.

Play around: check 2E constantly and avoid obvious single-point blowouts.

  • Did they show counters or only combat tricks?
  • Do they have Hidden cards that change movement or just stats?
  • Which cost window did they leave open most often?
  • What card did they protect like it mattered?
  • What did they board in after seeing your champion?
